Lipstick - SESC Santo Andre 25/07/2008
SHOW REVIEW
A Spectacle of Surprises
The expectation was great. Santo Andre is the "hometown" of the band. There, the Lipstick is formed, is the city where the lives of the band (the singer Mel Ravasio lives in neighboring Ribeirao Pires). It was a night that promised a special event, which almost coincided with the launch of the clip "Nanana", directed by Renzo and Alberto Azevedo Marques, creativity and great production.
Several titles were used to identify the sound of the band style of alternative, the indie underground, among other labels (who cares really with these settings?).
The Lipstick is conquering its space in several holdings in broadcast TV, radio, Internet and media in writing. Influences the most eclectic possible: The Donnas, Bangles, Green Day, Alanis Morissette, No Doubt, Avril Lavigne and even heavyweights such as Metallica and Rage Against the Machine.
The great sound of the Black Box of Rock, the SESC Santo Andre, was ideal for the band show its full potential. In contrast to groups that focus the resources of studio and their performance is based on the possibilities that the CD offers the Lipstick grows live up extremely well, only those who have had the chance to witness a show can attest.
The band has a hit that could be worked to win the media: "Surface", agile, pure adrenaline, especially for the conduct of Tila drummer and bassist Carol Gandra Navarro, which has always been a great presence of stage. "Uncontrolled" follows the same course, sounds like a "chaos under control" as the urgency and momentum of the piece.
"Never Again" begins with a guitar typically a hendrixiana under the responsibility of Dede Soares. Focuses more weight than the speed, shows the diversity in the repertoire of the band and a chorus worked very well: "I tried to forget, I tried to hide / What I need more / That you / Not now turn more / I do not want you" .
A great moment of the show was a cover of the band 30 Seconds to Mars, "The Kill" and Mel surprise to see the guitar, unprecedented scene in the show, with the monitoring of Dede and Michelle. It was a striking interpretation, very sensitive. And the primary: the Lipstick does not cover the exact meaning of the word: the songs are adjusted according to the band's personal style, which always adds new elements to the original version, but a radical change in sound.
Soon after, more surprises: Tila takes the guitar, Dede continues on stage and Carol invests in a speech to remember music that was stored in the archives of the band, "it your way." Very nice its performance, the audience quite pleased.
"Why Did" started as usual, just Mel and Michelle tecladista Oliveira comes into play. The structure of the theater allowed an unusual effect that the public loved it: the singer left the stage and continued to sing, was emerging at the bottom of the theater, under a strong spotlight to draw the attention of the audience. Down the stairs and ended up next to Michelle, ending in style.
The traditional cover of "Say You'll Be There" and the Spice Girls, it is indispensable in the band plays. While the original version is a techno-dance song, was recreated by Lipstick as an intimate ballad, a great result. The ideal opportunity for the whole band show their vocal gifts.
"Hurricane", with the participation of special Fabrizio Martinelli, the band Hateen, which somou Dede with an aggressive line of guitar riffs, plus the footprint of Tila in the battery, which literally "down the arm" in this composition. The keyboards of Michelle, with the timbre of Hammond organ, provided the ideal climate for the music.
I could not miss, of course, "Nanana", originally composed by Will Prestes, the band Wonkavision. On this night, the Lipstick played the music with an incredible arrangement, with a climate very different from the clip, ie weight sharp. Luck of the public present, he was able to hear the same styles that a train may take. It is a matter of sound direction.
There is no doubt that the Lipstick is one of the revelations of the national rock. The rise in concerts is visible / audible and harmony among the members is getting better. The band is here to stay, then it is awaiting the upcoming presentations and the second CD.
